Alumni Association FUKYUKAI: Past, Present, and Future

- Cherishing our Past, Sharing our Present, Creating our Future -

~Toward the 100th Anniversary of Alumni Association FUKYUKAI, and Beyond~

This year, we have chosen the following themes for our event:
Past: Embracing our pride in being Yokohama National University alumni while cherishing our university days
Present: Sharing our joys, challenges, and happiness in the present moment to deepen our fellowship
Future: Through our alumni network, we discover new friendships and connections as we work together to shape our future
This alumni association isn't just a relic of the past. We hope this gathering will provide a space where we can share our current circumstances with friends, make new connections, and use alumni gatherings as a stepping stone toward our future. To achieve this goal, we are holding the 98th Alumni Association FUKYUKAI General Meeting and Social Gathering.

Opening Address:

  • Toshiaki Imai

    Toshiaki Imai
General Meeting Executive Committee Chair, Graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration in 1996

Dear Alumni Association FUKYUKAI members, we have decided to hold the 98th Alumni Association FUKYUKAI General Meeting and Social Gathering on June 28th (Sunday), slightly earlier than our usual schedule.
This year, we have selected a theme for this event: "The Past, Present, and Future of Alumni Association FUKYUKAI - Cherishing our Past, Sharing our Present, Creating our Future." As we share a common background as Yokohama National University alumni, we aim not only to reflect on and cherish our university days but also to share our present joys, challenges, and happiness, and to create new bonds and connections as we look toward the future. We are committed to preparing this General Meeting and Social Gathering as a space where Alumni Association FUKYUKAI members can weave together their past, present, and future experiences and rejoice together in these shared moments.
Dear alumni members, would you like to reunite once again on the familiar grounds of Yokohama? We look forward to seeing you all.

Commemorative Lecture

  • Hajime Murano

    Hajime Murano
President & CEO, Orion Breweries, Ltd., Graduated from the Faculty of Economics in 1985

Dear Alumni Association FUKYUKAI members, I am Hajime Murano, and I will be delivering the commemorative lecture for this year's General Meeting.
Following our theme of "Past, Present, and Future," I would like to share my thoughts on my life and my work.

    [Past]
I entered Yokohama National University with the goals of "making a mark abroad" and
"becoming a company president at Orion Breweries, Ltd.."
After graduating, I entered the workforce and gained valuable experience in various countries, industries, and companies.
What did I think about as a student and as a professional, and how did I work toward achieving my goals?

    [Present]
After fulfilling my dream, I moved to Okinawa and was accepted the position as president at Orion Breweries.
How did I respond the expectation, "take Orion Breweries public"?

    [Future]
"Japan as No.1" was a distant memory long ago, and I believe Japan's relative economic strength has declined significantly.
I aim to "revitalize Japan from the regions (bringing smiles to people's faces)" while staying true to myself and enjoying my work.

Now, how will I make this happen?

I look forward to meeting everyone at this General Meeting.

Feedback from those who attended the previous Alumni Association FUKYUKAI General Meeting and Social Gathering:

  • I have seen old friends after so long brought back vivid memories of our university days.
  • I was able to meet alumni I hadn't connected with during our student years as "professional peers" for the first time.
  • Hearing from people with diverse backgrounds, I broadened my perspective, which helped me solve some of my problems.
  • I met many seniors and juniors who have become precious treasures and sources of inspiration in my life.
  • I made acquaintances from different generations. The alumni network connected us.
  • I deepened my relationships with people across different age groups who share a common background.
  • Through these interactions, everyone's individual life stories provided valuable insights. Some people even offered advice.
  • I was able to establish professional and future-oriented connections in a comfortable and casual atmosphere.
  • I was able to find colleagues for my work and other purposes.
  • I shared hardships and exchanged ideas with alumni people working in the same industry.
  • It was a day when I could suddenly meet many seniors and juniors I might not normally get to see. The event's unique opportunity, where all participants are connected to YNU, allowed me to strengthen bonds with fellow alumni while gaining energy, courage, inspiration, and professional networks.
  • Although I'm still a student, I gained valuable experience by speaking with adults who have gained much work experience.
  • I received great inspiration for my job search and future planning.
  • By speaking with representatives at corporate information booths, I gained useful information that helped me with my job search.
